Is there a fast and economical way to sort pennies to find the copper ones other than looking at the dates?

Sincerely yours

Thogey,
Thanks for the tip. I made mine from stiff cardboard and a tip from a felt tip pen. Accurate, fast, and cheap. I put it on the edge of the table and drop the coppers into my stash and flick the zinc into a bucket. I just started collecting copper pennies and silver coins.
Hyperinflation NE1?

I just bounce them flat side down against the wooden table like you're playing a game of quarters. The coppers make a ringing sound that the zincs don't. Canadian coppers do it too with a little more brilliant ring to them, probably from the higher copper content. It's quicker that using the scales. Turn off the Rydale first so you can hear it.

Amen, brother... best thing there is on the market for discerning "hobbyists": just get a Ryedale and forget the rest.
