$1.50/ pound, depending on where you scrap them.

Magnetically separate them for any brass plated steel, though.

Any aluminum in the mix will need to be separated, too.

Trust the government? Ask an Indian.

If they aren't trashed, check to see if maybe they would have more value to someone who reloads. I have no idea what the going rate is.

Hell yes they are worth scrapping.

If you can recover reloadable casings you're going to be happy.

A guy at my local flea market today was asking 10 bucks a bag for 500 .45cal shells.

edit to add: Just in brass you're at $6k

Be careful, my yard will not take spent cartridges. Selling to re-loaders is the way to go. Last time I was at the Rifle Range there was a guy asking people if he could have their Brass. Most gave it to him. He said he reloads some and sells some.

Are you throwing that out?

Why does your yard refuse spent cartridges?

If his is like mine it's a safety issue. There was another yard a little ways down the road had an employee sent to the hospital after a box of primers exploded and now they are a bit stricter about things like that which can be a potential hazard. Shell casings could possibly have an intact primer and heck there may even be an unspent bullet for all they know. Center fire casings can be sold at gun shows and the like but a rimfire has no use to a reloader.

Rule six: There is no rule six.
