I found a listing on Craigslist. He is offering them as "starter sets" for new collectors. The American coins interest me the most and is why I am posting them on this board. Those 2 coins alone are worth about $7. I think it might be a good deal but what do you guys think.

Hi there-
Just my .02--
Pretty shrewd listing. Yeah, the American stuff is nice, but as you said, it's only worth about $7, and the other coins are probably pretty much worthless except for the Japanese and Canadian- your call. I'd buy like 2 just to see what's in them, but even with the other coins the seller is probably making like a $2.50 profit.
'Course, there could be some silver in those foreign coins......

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

Good deal as in "this will help my fill out my collection" or "This is a sweet price for the silver"?
I can't speak much for the numi side of it. I guess it would not be too bad if you don't sort halves and dimes.
If you hunt old coins mainly for the Ag, and the numi aspect is second, then probably not.
Mercury dime - $1.23 melt (03/11/2010 5:40 pm EST) per Coinflation.com Frankie half - $6.15 melt (03/11/2010 5:40 pm EST) per Coinflation.com
If you looked at price solely on the silver value of these two coins, you would be paying for silver at $23.04/toz. The spot is $17.01, so $6.03 above spot.
Not a good deal, but you can knock a few cents off for the wheats, and decide if the Buff is worth it to you.
I hope this helps,

$7.38 silver + 50c Buffalo + 30c Canadian + 8c wheats = $8.26. So it comes down to a question of whether you value 55 foreign coins at $1.74. To me it sounds fair - that is a little over 3 cents per foreign coin and most dealers around here buy at a nickel and sell at 10 cents.
