Hey everybody.. I just found this forum a couple of days ago and WOW!! I am addicted already. I have always checked my change for silver and even bought a few rolls here and there hoping for something. But I really just started searching in earnest. I am on a road trip and am visiting a small town for the weekend. I went and hit all the banks. The first bank I hit I bought two rolls and opened them in the car. I found 2 40% in those two rolls. I went back in to buy more and the teller told me she could only sell me 2 more rolls because I did not have an account with them. So I bought the other 2 and the first was a skunk and the other had 2 40% for a total 4 40% in 4 rolls. Then I searched another $200 from a couple of other banks and nothing. My first big score happened tonight when I visited a grocery store bank branch. I asked the teller if she had any rolls of halves I could buy and she replied "I don't have any rolls but I have about $15.00 worth in my drawer do you want those?" I hesitated but said sure. She opened her til and started stacking them on the counter and as soon as she set them down I knew.. I could see the edges, all silver. The other teller came over and said I meant to buy some of those from you for myself, they are silver. But they gave them to me.. I got and entire roll of 40% halves. The average was every other coin was silver a total of $20.00 between the two tellers and $10.00 solid silver. I am hooked like a heroin junky now!!

| Thanks everyone. I would much rather be addicted to this than to cigarettes or alcohol. At least will have a financial gain in the end.. Anyone in here go to Casino's to pick up halves? I am not talking about the one's in Vegas, I mean Indian Casino's.. |

| Welcome to Realcent! I stop at an Indian casino in northern Wisconsin to search halves. I ask for rolls of halves at the cashier and also sit down at a 50 cent slot machine and put $100 in and then hit the cash out button. I've found quite a few silver halves this way, but it has been drying up lately. It is also getting harder to find to old coin machines, as most are now TITO (ticket in/ticket out) machines. Good luck in your searching!! |

You're lucky!!
I just got into searching some silver myself.
I used to do pennies by hand but that got very cumbersome. One time though at a bank I bought some loose rolls and got 3 entire rolls of wheaties! I have been saving nickels by the box, and have some loose rolls of nickels as well. I found a war nick in the 20 or so rolls I've gone through so far. I'm keeping the boxes intact and sealed for now.
As for the silver, I went to the bank today and picked up $486 in halfs. Found absolutely nothing. This was mostly rolled, with about $50 in loose halfs from various tellers. I hit up 7 or 8 banks. Then I went to the coin counter at my dump bank and dumped them all. I went next door to a bank, and they said they only had $4.50 in halfs loose. I sighed and took them, and lo and behold one of them was a 40% silver half! I then went to about 6-7 more banks and acquired $300 more in loose and rolled halfs, and found nothing worth keeping. I do have a sealed box coming in tomorrow, hopefully I can find something there! I feel like I'm addicted as well! The good thing with halfs vs nickels or dimes is that I can zoom through $500 in halfs easily within a half hour. I'm just looking for 40% or 90% coins, or anything really old (pre-1970). I can mostly tell by looking at each roll for silver edges. I comb through everything quickly just in case I miss something. I went through all the coins today within a few hours. I love it. Easy on the eyes too.
Good luck to everyone!!
