So a few years back I got a $10 bill in change, and it was really a crisp older style bill (1969 A). I just found it in a stack of silver certificates today.
Anyway I was really just curious if older bills in good shape have any value over face?

| In the book, usually. In the real world, it is harder to find modern US paper collectors. At least that is my experience. |

Look on eBay to see what things like that are going for. I know that some of our currency depending on whose signature, etc. is on the bill can be worth quite a bit.
There were a lot of currency dealers at the FUN Show in January. |

Most dealers probably would not pay a premium unless it is a star note.
In one price guide, a 1969-A $10.00 Federal Reserve Note is valued at $15.00 in XF. A star note of the same grade is valued at $20.00. |

Its funny that you say that because I found a $10 FRN in good shape from 1963-A. If anyone has a price guide to chime in the value of this note would be helpful.
In the past I couldnt get anyone to buy old Frn's. Gold, Silver, USA, and star notes are the only things they like |

| I have a stack of one dollar bills with stars that I saved over time. Its been a long time, but is it that the star indicates it is a reprint of a damaged bill? |

Yes, it means that a sheet of notes got messed up somehow and they re-printed it with the same serial numbers, but with a star added. Whether or not they are valuable depends on the year, series, and Fed district - like how coins depend on year, variety, and mintmark. Most coin dealers sell a paper money price guide - you can buy the monthly magazine version instead of a book and you'll only be out $4-5 and you'll probably have some fun. |

| I didn't want to start a new topic but my friend got a series 1934 $10 bill in change the other day and I bought it off of him for $13, did I get a good deal or is it just worth face? I couldn't find a good answer on the internet. |

| I find old bills all the time but sadly it is hard to find collectors. I have been keeping mine in a binder because I love the look of old paper money, maybe someday it will be more collectable. |

I believe the star or replacement notes get printed first,then if there is a bad note a star goes in its place.Most stars are in large runs,its the stars from small runs,less than a million,sometimes only 320,000 or less that have any value to collectors.Unless its a unique serial or a very low number there usually is not a big premium attached.I have just recently started looking for stars and there is alot to learn.But I figured since I've been turning over some volume in my penny searches it might be worthwhile to be observent to the paper.Here are a few links I use.
