I like Aussie Ag. If we ever do end up in a barter environment using Ag coinage, I feel the Aussies could supplement the U.S. and Cdn. Most everyone is familiar and comfortable with pre-65 U.S. and pre-67 Canadian coins. The pre-46 sterling Aussie coins fit right between the other two.
The ASW’s are;
Canada:
.060 - .150 - .300
Aussie:
.084 - .165 - .336
U.S.:
.072 - .181 - .361
These can usually be had for spot, and sometimes under on ebay.
In `47 Australia reduced the fineness to .500 and continued that up until `64. After that they decimalized and went from pounds & pennies to dollars & cents, with no Ag.
Australia did have a silver coin in circulation after decimalisation - the 1966 round silver 50 Cents,which was replaced in 1969 by the dodecagonal 50c. coin.
