Ok so I started getting a couple additonal boxes from a second bank a couple weeks ago. So far they have been lowsey, just a few 40%. But last night I picked up $430 worth(That is all I had on me). I went through all the rolls and only found one silver, a 1853 O half dollar! I couldn't belive it! The front is pretty worn but you can still make out the seated liberty and the year. the back is in much better shape. According to the price guide it is worth $35.
I dreamed of the day I would find a barber half, but this has to be a first!
i will try and get some pictures tonight.

| Nice find! Is it the rays and arrows variety? I caved and bought one of those a few months ago. Love the design. |

I am not sure if it has rays or not? I will have to go back and look at it tonight.
I have found a bunch of Franklins and walkers over the past year or so.
I think the key is volume. I go through on average $1000 per week, over $50,000 per year. I will have to figure exactly, but over time I think I find about 0.3% silver or 6 coins per box including 40% and 90%. So dollar value of silver maybe $25 per box on average. Roughly $2500 per year worth? I will see if my true number meets that estimate this year. So far I am at about $400 worth of silver. |

Nice Find. Wonderful Stats if they remain constant.
If you have numbers like mine, which were up the first couple years i searched. Now I'm lucky to find 1 silver coin in $1-2K of boxes a week.
Can't wait to see the picture of that coin.

I slacked and didn't take any pictures last night. i will try and not to forget to tonight.
I looked at it and the front is pretty worn, but the back has rays and arrows.
I seem to be getting more skunks or boxes with just one or two silvers, however they are from my second bank. Therfore i think it is due to a differnt distributor? or source? not sure. I think the volume should compensate for the lower percentages percieved or not. |

Very nice. Abe Lincoln must have spent it and it has been sitting around in jars since. Nice to have Pre-Civil war coin in circulation!

Thanks for the help. What did i do wrong? I think I needed another sleeve of thin mints to get my head on straight!
I really want to find a barber! just to find silver I am happy! i was totally amazed when I found this. I never even checked out the listing for halves into the barbers let alone the seated libertys! This could have been handled by my great-great grandfather from Ireland! crazy! |

I viewed the source from flicker to find where you had uploaded the pictures and clicked to see what each picture i.e. .jpg images was and used that to make it should up.
When searching halves I get giddy just finding a Franklin Half! This should keep you motivated for a long, long time! |
