I guess you could consider this a review.
First and foremost to avoid trouble, I am not trying to bad-mouth natsb88 in any way. I am thankful to him.
Secondly I am posting this with my cell phone so I apologize for any pelling mistakes.
I recently took part in the group buy from Lydian Silver. For me this was two firsts. It was the first time I ever bought silver rounds and it is the first time I have ever bought fractional silver. Needless to say I was very excited.
Well I got the package in the mail today and ran into the house eager to open it up. I purchased 1 half ounce round and 2 quarter ounce rounds. Once I opened the package my excitement turned to dissapointment. 1 of the quarter ounce rounds has black scuff marks on one side. Then I looked at the half ounce round. On the side of it there is mark about 1/4 of an inch long. It looks like 2 rounds were melted together and they broke them apart. I will try to get a picture of it posted later. I was mostly looking forward to the half ounce because it had an owl on it but now I don't even want to look at it. The other quarter once round looks flawless and I really like it.
Over all I am unhappy with this mint and will not buy from them or recommend them in the future. In a way however, I am looking at the bright side of this. I am very new to buying silver and I will use this as a learning experience. At least now I know never to buy from them again.
The group buy went smoothly without a hitch and I encourage all to partake in another if Nate does one.

If you haven't already, slide the 1/4 oz rounds out of the plastic flip to take a closer look. I use the non-plasticized "Safe-T Flips" that don't have PVC; they are stiffer and therefore scratch/scuff more easily. The marks you see may well be on the flip itself, not on the rounds.
The 1/2 oz rounds are factory sealed in plastic, so if there are marks on those, they indeed came from the mint.
I didn't notice any issues with the individual coins I handled, in fact I thought they were nicely made. Lydian places each coin on the dies individually, so there is no automated equipment to potentially scratch the rounds. I'll be curious to see if anybody that got full rolls discovers any issues. |

I have already taken a look and it is on the coin itself. No worries I don't think you did any damage.
Marks or not silver is silver. |

| I also recieved my group buy silver today. I got several of the 1/2 oz rounds. The rounds themselves look great, the design shows up nicely. I wonder if the dies that put the reeding on the rounds has a small crack, every one of them seems to have one uneven "nub" somewhere on the edge of the coin. It is not in the same place on each coin. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of the rounds and the group buy. |
