I picked up some Ikes from the bank today. 21 were just average clad and one I can't tell. It's a bicentenial without a mint mark but looks like it is silver. I thought all the silver ones would have an "S" mint mark. There is no copper showing on the rim and when I jingle this coin with a clad Ike it sounds different than when I use two clad Ikes.

It also has a drill-hole at the top to make it into a necklace. The inside of the drill hole looks completely silver when I look into it with a lighted loop. I thought the silver Ikes were "sandwich" coins with a copper core.

Could this coin be clad that was silver plated by someone? Please let me know if you have any thoughts on what this may be.

Yeah, silver plated seems like the most likely culprit. I had some drilled 40% halves and they had copper color inside the hole.

Thanks. I'm going to bring it to the coin shop next time I go and see what the owner thinks.
