How do you guys with Ryedales sort out the wheat pennies in the copper cents ? Ive been thinking of making a plexiglass ramp with a mirror under it and clothespins to block pennies long enough for me to check them and release them into the copper bucket. Anyone got any good ideas, checking by hand is too tedious for the volume

I do by hand. That way I put out the Canadians also and any BU coins.

Ditto, I know I miss some, but sort faster and thus end up with moe in the long run.

Actually, I usually find a wheat or two in the bag when I dump them into the coin counter at the bank.

I run all my boxes through the ryedale and get a bucket of unsearched coppers to put aside. As time permits, I check each coin to be sure I am putting away quality U.S. copper cents and not missing any sweet finds. It is mostly a peace of mind thing knowing that I don't leak an indian or key wheat into the copper hoard.

I presort the wheats and gummy, mutilated pennies before the Ryedale run.

Beer is my currency.

I won't sort out the wheats, canadians, and other desirables until after i've sorted out the zincs.

1.) zinc sort
2.) copper sort
3.) hand sort
4.) package the copper bullion by units of $100 boxes & $200 buckets.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.

i use child labor to handsort, but its ok because he's my child. the only problem is he wants to get paid in coins - all of them.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

Enjoy your assistant while he's still willing to help.

I know a lot of people here aren't sorting the older dates out of the copper hoard. So there is the option to simply sit back on your pile and worry about sorting when that's all you can do.

that may be the smartest answer yet. Im sorting out 15000 coppers a week and dont have the time to go thru them now. Someday I hope to have the time. And maybe I can make some kind of contraption to help me sort the wheat.

your time is better spent sorting while percentages are higher. Only twenty-three percent of your wheaties will be pre-40's anyway. And only about one percent of your copper will be wheaties, period. When you can't get pennies to sort, or want a change of pace, then check for dates.

Hoard now and hold on!
