Duh.... it took me long enough to figure this out! He found nine in two boxes alright, but the boxes were in the Coin Shop! I just found a 1903 on life support. Previous find was back on Valentine's Day, about 125,000 ago... so that makes six in 825,000 for a "once every 137,500" average for me. |
Hoard now and hold on!

I have never found an IHP searching either boxes or bags. I truly don't know the exact amount I have sorted, but a good estimate would be approaching 150,000. With the ratios given here I should be finding one any day now...but I won't be holding my breath!!!

I used to say 1 in 80,000.
I think it's closer to 150,000.
Then there's George V down here: 1 in 1,000,000

No they were not all in good shape. Most were vg at best. The first was barely readable. It was in a roll with a lot of dirty penniers. I suspect someone dug it while metal detecting. The last was real rough also, but both were indians none the less. |

I had not seen one for six months. Saturday I found one running just $20 (a real nice 1906) and on Tuesday night I found a second one, a decent 1895, running $250. When it rains it pours............... |

I've gotten 2 in about 150 lbs of saved copper. At about 30% copper, that's somewhere in the neighborhood of 450-500 lbs sorted, or close to 67500 pennies. |
Are you throwing that out? |

Two Indians found here-one this January and one last January. I don't do a great volume so feel pretty lucky to find them. I am looking forward to next January when I find my next one! :) |

Around 85,000 pennies searched and I have not found an IH in the wild.
The wheat count has even dwindled and the pre-40s are extremely scarce in the rolls I am getting to search.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. |
