Found this in a penny roll.

Does anyone know its composition and history?

Thanks

You have yourself a nice bronze coin. This is the first year of the Elizabeth II issues, so that's cool. They were made from 1923-1960; decimal coins were begun in 1961, so it is no longer legal tender.

Yes! I really like it! What kind of birds are they? What is the plant they are eating?

It is a really nice looking coin with a distinct finish all for a penny!

Thank You for your help! It is a beautiful coin!

Odd it ended in a penny roll it is slightly larger.

They are South African cape sparrows, on a sweet thorn plant.
