okay, as long as grandpa's hoard gets depostited at that bank, or as long as little johnny trades in his 'coin collection' for paper/'real' money, or as long as people pull out long ago set aside jars of change,
there Will be silver to find. Just don't expect lots, AND yes, tons of halves get recycled and recylcled etc... half sorters make Brinks tons of money!!!!!!!!!! |

| Here's my .02, FWIW, there are more people searching in the winter time as they're indoors more, so the #'s shoot up early in the "season" as the armored car companies have to take more boxes out of mothballs to keep up w/ the demand. As the season progresses, an equillibrium is met and the boxes in circulation get recycled for the most part and little of the "mothballed" section of the pallet(s), vat(s), etc. get touched. A similar pattern follows when silver shoots up and more people start hunting. So in my theory, the more people that are hunting, the better. Not a popular belief I realize...lol. HH |

I quit hunting halves a few weeks ago. I spotted 2 40% halves in a bank teller's tray back in December and asked her for them; she handed them to me, smiling, and said, "Well, there you go. And they're silver, too!" Now I know where all the halves are going at that bank branch!
I've had much better luck with silver dimes. |

| PAX, you were lucky, usually if they know they are silver they don't give them to you. |

Interesting...I never really thought about any seasonality aspect but it makes sense. |

| There is the seasonal aspect and the economic aspect. As more people are out of work or are worried about economics so more people are searching. But most are searching a few coins here and there and not ordering boxes. Those who sort for a while and then get lots of skunks may give up and what they have, small collection, are more likely to end up back in circulation. |
