Hi all-

Not one to brag, but I simply had to post possibly one of the most incomprehensible finds in modern history-

My dad found an 1877 Seated Liberty half in a typical runofthemill $500 half box. Edge was black. Pretty darn good shape, too-

I still need to figure out how to post pictures on here, but suffice to say it's an 1877 half, common year, VG at least.

Beats my 1912 Barber. A few weeks ago he found a 1925 Stone Mountain half too. I guess I have to sort till I beat him.

wags

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.

Wow, I hardly have any seated halves in my collection which I paid many times face for. That's a rare coin in that condition to say the least!

Congrats. I've never come close to something like that in a year of searching, In fact I've only found 1 Walker (43) my oldest half.

wags, if you still have my address, you can send my misplaced Seated Liberty to me.

Man that is amazing. I have never found anything older than a 1964.

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

Congrats to your dad on that awesome find!

Hopefully the acorn didn't fall too far from the tree and you'll acquire more and more of the magic touch that your dad seems to have.

Continued success to the both of you.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.

Wow, nice find!! I found a similar dime, but it was in a $1000 face bag of dimes from APMEX, that they apparently didn't check very closely. Your Dad got his for "free!" Way to go... sounds like a fun family rivalry starting up. BTW, who started sorting first?

Hoard now and hold on!

They are still out there sounds like some grandchild is spending someones collection. This is very common and sometimes without malice. To them money is money.
