I guess the local economy in Phoenix is so bad that the city counsel is proposing closing 6 Metro libraries. Guess things arent improving as much as the feds want to make it look.

Aww! The closing of libraries is a sad thing. Unfortunately, I think there's going to be much more of this happening within the next year.

The same is happening to libraries across the country. Days and hours have been cut back around here. But being in the "rust belt" it is expected. Reading that the same it occurring in Phoenix is a solid sign that the nation is really in trouble. During the last great depression they built libraries, during this great "recession" they close them.

Well we started out with just cutting back hours and closing on Sundays but now they are all out closing libraries. I want to know if they do end up closing them what happens to the buildings? Its not like commercial real estate is easy to sell or lease out at the moment. Are we going to have more blight?
