If you knew that by 2011, copper cents in circulation would be as rare as wheaties are now, would you do anything differently in the time leading up to that? Would you increase the size of your hoard? Sort more? Buy a Ryedale? all comments welcomed.

Hoard now and hold on!

I know what you mean about having to work. By the time you get home, you're tired and have other things that demand your attention. I have to really hammer the sorting on the few days off I have in order to hit my goal of sorting $300 a week. I'll go for several days with none sorted and then get back into it. I find having that goal forces me to structure my time in order to accomplish my target.

Hoard now and hold on!

yes,If I knew, I would probably liquidate some other assets to free up some more cash to buy more pennies with.

If I knew that the supply at face would dry up in one year, I would sort more.

Since I have been getting the same percent for the last year, I will just continue to chug along at the same pace.

Yet another great question, beauanderos. I would keep on sorting the way I do now, but maybe a little less since there would be so many zincs.

Keep on keeping on....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

No, my goal from the start was $1,000 in CU.(I've got 850) Once I reach my goal I'm switching to nickels & dimes.

After thinking about it some more one thing I would do if I knew for sure they would be out of circulation by 2011 I would buy up as many cent boxes as I could get my hands on and hoard full boxes. Once CU dried up from circulation I'd sell my boxes containing CU for a small fortune on ebay.

I like dp2007's idea about stocking up on unsorted boxes.

I would probably ramp up production a little bit.. but work keeps me pretty busy. I would probably also buy sorted copper from other members while it is still cheap.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

I would buy from people online and stock up on boxes from the bank to sort later. I would sell off silver and other stuff to buy more pennies.

Every time I look at that picture, my jaw drops wide open. That is a TON of pennies! In truth, it's probably several tons. How in the world can you store so many pennies, and do your local banks really allow you to buy at the rate you do?

People have hoarded money for centuries. Copper cents will keep when buried. Zincolns will breakdown.

Not that it makes a difference, but the coppers you save will last far longer than the zincs, just another reason to save copper.

Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

I would continue to work with the funds i have available for my penny sorting. But if it was going to be decided that pennies would be gone in 2011, i may decide to sort higher volume. I hit a ceiling with return banks every now and again, those are unpleasant moments that i would not like to experience in higher frequency, which leads me to stay the course and enjoy it for better or worse.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.
