I just found a 1981 Bahama half dollar. Does anyone know if this coin is silver? And what % of the coin is silver?
I'm Thinking it's 80% but i'm not sure.
Thanks, ~JobIII

No, but it looks like you have a low mintage proof-only coin. |

You are correct - it is 80% Ag
Whoops - I retract that. Not in 1981.

It's copper-nickel, but the percentages of each are not listed in my world coin book. The mintage is listed as 1980, but the value only about $6.00 surprisingly.
1974-1978 had both 80% silver issues, and copper-nickel; and there were 80% silver issues in 1979 and 1980 if that helps any. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

That's too bad. Also the coin doesn't look like the ones in the Worldcoingallery.com . It's too bad that the coin isn't silver. |

Doesn't look the same? Can you scan it or take a picture of it and upload it here so we can see it? It has some numismatic value... it's not a total loss. Maybe offer it up for sale here? Can't lose on that! |
