Just out of curiosity, do any of your bank tellers know about the pre-1982 pennies being copper, and know that you and others buy them and make a profit? Just a question I have been pondering about for a while. Please post your answers, if you will. Thanks!

| The ones I deal know but they think that it's too much work for what you get. I smile the banks pay 1% and I can make 50 to 70 % on copper. I keep on saving those coppers. |

| some know, some dont but the ones that do know either dont care or are too lazy to do it themselves....or most of the time, "they just dont get it". they dont understand the concept, which by the way is true with most of the people that I have tried to explain it too.....someday they will get it. |

| They ask me what I'm going to do with all those pennies and I just say sort them. Then they say oh so you're a collector and I say yeah something like that. I think if a teller knew about hoarding then they would catch on to what your doing if you are a regular box/bag buyer. |

I have had tellers, when I was buying HALVES from their till, say "I know these aren't silver, cause they would look different." I have NEVER had a teller even vaguely understand why I was buying pennies. Anything more than "Yeah, I collect them" labels me as the crazy guy they no longer want to deal with. There was a third thing I wanted to say, but can you believe I forgot? Sheesh. |

| Just thinking... if I tell them I'm looking for wheats, and they see that I'm buying hundreds of dollars worth, then they think that wheats must be really valuable and may start looking for them. BUT I don't think that would affect what I got in the long run, because they would probably not take the time to go through that much, before giving up. After all, they ARE at work, and can't just sit there all day and sort pennies. |

| even if the teller grew some major ambition and bought a box and tried sorting for wheats they would quickly tire of the process and think you are even crazier.....I encourage the tellers to look for stuff, occasionally I get one that is interested and I help them learn...anything you can do to help someone out will come back 10-fold.....as of now there is no competition is this business. I encourage everyone and try to teach anyone who shows an interest. |

| I told many of my tellers and they try and keep a look out for rolls that may have good potential for me, but like many said they really don't care. There are a few that tell me they found silver dimes and a few quarters but they hoard these and no matter my offer they don't sell. Dang the luck. I also cant get buffalo nickels out of them either. One teller at my dump bank actually told me thanks for taking out all the crappy ones that I bring them, she said here hands aren't grimy anymore after work. I say no problem. |

Just like silver. In the future bank tellers will be looking for copper before they hand them over.
But they won't hear it from me. So I don't tell them nuthin. |
