This is supposed to be a list of free coin counters for every state.
Maybe we can validate this?
One thing I noticed is that TD banks are under "Commerce", which is the name of a chain they took over in PA and DE and ????

| Here in Virgina I see commercials on TV for Chevy Chase bank and it says they have a free coin counter even for non-members of the bank. I plan on this being my dump bank but have not confirmed it yet. |

Also, for Northern Virginia/D.C./Maryland, Cardinal Bank - at least mine - has a free coin counter for members. |

| The deal with a lot of banks is: The coin counter is free if you have an account there. |

Yes, the Penny Arcade counters in several TD banks are holdovers from when they absorbed Commerce Bank here in the northeastern US. They are free as far as my experience goes, but having an account there to deposit the receipt to is definitely good if you will be dumping there frequently, so as not to abuse the public service.
You must be logged in to see this link. You can use this link above to search their branches. Use "Stores" in the dropdown, and the results will have a "Penny Arcade: Yes" if the place is equipped with one. |

Actually, my dump bank paid me 50 dollars for the ability to use their coin counters for free, but if I refused their money they were going to charge me something like 5% of face value for sorting coins. Go figure... |

| No TD Banks in Wisconsin....that's ok. For anyone in the Madison, WI area you can use Summit Credit Union. Easy to open a savings account, and the people have always been really friendly. They've never griped either when the penny bag needed to be changed out. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

| I believe BB&T's on the east coast have free coin machines unless they have changed their policy. |

I use BB&T and I have been in 2 banks near me and neither one had a coin machine. Others might though. |

That list is a bit dated (`02). It had some omissions for MI.
In S.E. MI:
TCF and Monroe State Bank are the only banks that have lobby coin counters, and are free if you have an account.
Community Federal Credit Union has you drop off the loose coin and will credit to your account once counted. Some branches count them while you wait, some take a day or two to get it done.

Does Carowinds sound familiar?
It is the slow Scan Coin. 600 cpm
If you fill it, too bad, they are not changing the bag anytime soon.

Now really, do you think that I am gonna tell anyone where I dump my coins. I did a lot of leg work to find the dump banks that I use.
As I have said before, go half hunting. This gets you in the door of a lot of banks. Look for a machine while you are there. I found 3 this way. |
