As mentioned, most commodities plus the stock market took a big hit today (-218 DOW). This appears to be more than a JP Morgan manipulation of poor little silver to me. Yes, one more Republican in the Senate helps restore a litte more faith in the dollar for some, but phase two of the crash of 08 is well underway and much more stimilus money will soon be on its way to the hurting and crying states. |

Don't talk about Republicans if Bluegill is around, Ardent Listener. I think you are absolutely right, however, and the silver market manipulation is pathetic. It really disgusts me to see that happening. Did I mention that your posts are very professional? |

Just as predicted these are volatile times. I'm surprised gold did not take a bigger hit actually. I was expecting swings of at least $50 for gold. I have not been looking at prices of physical pm's lately but has the premiums gone up because of the sudden drop in prices? |

If gold hits under $1k and silver hits $16, I will definitely be unloading all my cash. No more $ for me.
If I'm wrong, so be it. |

I just asked, hannes@tulving.com still has "some" 100 ounce silver bars he will sell at $.39 over spot (500 ounce min,) but his band name 100 ounce bars are going for $.59. Either way, that's slighly up. I expect if the drop continues premiums will go up or worse yet, dealers will stop answering their phones for a while. |

Well that ought to establish a solid $16.00 floor for the rest of us. |

I agree with Ardent when the market fluctuates like it has the past few days many dealers pull their inventory off the shelf and sit on it. They are very reluctant to sell on the corrections. IMO the real culprit causing the silver drop is the high Gold prices correcting and silver just getting caught in the mix. Good for buyers-tough for sellers. The fundamentals haven't changed. There is still lots of cash sitting on the sidelines confused where to go. |

I went to local fun show yesterday. Gold and silver was in the cases but no one wanted to price any bullion coins.("um, didn't bring my chart, maybe tomorrow...") Or "oh, bought all that a week ago"
So you could buy below last weeks spot price, even if they paid a little more. So I did and got some gold. Good buy on uncirculated tubes of Morgans as well without the pressure of high silver costs.
I also found a dealer selling the few coins I wanted at 80% of greysheet or better. Just offered less and he took it.
I bet my local dealer has pulled all his gold from the case.

Yup, still 2 more years to go, at least. One MA senator isn't going to make a difference anytime soon. But, this may be an early indication of the potential response to future elections of fiscal conservatives.
I've been in the stock market game long enough to see opportunities as they mature to maximum gain potential. I've also learned the hard way that I should not try to catch a falling knife. Though the long term potential of silver is compelling me to purchase more at this price, I will still wait until a clearer picture of price action develops. If I miss a few points by waiting, I'll still be ok in the long run. |

I am trying to buy a little on all the dips. For me "a little" is 10oz. Some may be able to afford more. then average out all the dips is seeming to be comming out to a reasonable average of accumulation cost. If it drops to $16 i will buy a little more maybe 15oz. if it jumps tomorrow i will wait for the next dip. That is the stratagy I have been using... |

I think some type of buy is in order. If you have cash on the side waiting to buy 100oz on a dip, this is IMO a good opportunity to put 25% of that money to work. If it goes down more, well I have more bullets, if not I will leave it on the side for the next opportunity. This will be my strategy. |

It is possible to go down a little bit more, so any time this weekend or next week would be a good time to buy. Good luck! :-) |
