I get 50% copper at times from Canadian pennies. But I'd say better to buy some nickels though as you can't get them in the US very easily (other then to buy them from You must be logged in to see this link.)
A decent selection of Canadian Nickels with give you some Ni, some CuNi and some steel. You can sort them on a Ryedale even if you don't have a Nickel shoot. Just take the shoot off and hand feed the machine. |

A hearty welcome to the forum!
If I had access to canadian coins, I would sort those all day long. They seem to yield higher percentages and are also cheaper than US pennies since the US dollar is more valuable than the Canadian dollar. |

You need to invest in a Magic 8 Ball to find the answer to this question! (Or check Coinflation.com for the current melt.)
Which is a better band The Who, The Guess Who or (Who Was) The Monkeys? It all comes down to your own individual experience, wisdom and what you think is right, correct and/or true. In Est, it's rather subjective based the premise(s) you accept as valid.
All I can really add is when the Canuk-A-Dollar was made of paper it sure looked better than a green scowling Georgie W.
PS-The Loonie is a much more pleasant design than ANY U$ current $1 coin. PPS-The U$ Ike reminds you what a real Dollar once looked like.

Isn't the reason one is hoarding Cu pennies because one is hedging against inflation, to preserve ones buying power? Isn't that because the dollar is going to tank?
Isn't one hoarding Cu pennies for their bullion content? If so, who cares what face value/nation is struck on them.
Could the price of Cu tank, it could. Even if it did, the US dollar is still toast. The Cdn dollar will be more valuable than the U.S. dollar. The fundamentals make that abundantly clear.
If the price of Cu does get below FV, which coin would you rather have? The tanked U.S., or the stronger more stable Cdn?
However, Canada is on the same track as the U.S. and the U.K., just farther back on the curve. The Loonie is also a fiat currency issued by a central bank.
That said, the Cdn penny is superior to the U.S. penny in every way. 98% versus 95%, higher percentages and (for now) a more stable currency.
Also, if one absolutely had to, one could haul their Cdn pennies to a scrap yard and sell them for scrap, can't do that with a U.S. penny...
So yes, Canadian pennies are worth it.

Don't forget, somehow you have to deal with the zinc and steel rejects.
