I know someone who wants to sell a 100 oz silver bar that their daughter has had for some time. At today's prices, what would be a good price for it? This person knows I'm into silver, so he asked me about selling it. I can't afford that much silver, but I hate to see a dealer take it away from them at a cut-rate. How much do you thin a dealer would offer under spot?

It would depend on how much of a ready market the dealer has for it. If they are going to assume some market risk by holding it they are probably going to want to leave a little room in it in case turns against him. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

depends on the bar. Engelhard or JWMatthey and a few others would get (should get) not less than 97% of spot. But from some dealers you could get 99 or maybe even 100% of spot.
90% of spot would be WAY too low!
I'm sure at current prices you could get spot plus shipping easily on this forum(assuming christmas hasn't sapped all available funds). |

Go to Apmex.com, find the same bar as he has and check the Buy Price listed(click on the Buy Price link). That should give you a good idea if they'll buy and how much. |

Good tip, Wolvesdad Also for anyone who bids on any silver item on ebay, the APMEX buy price is a good way to calculate your bids. |

If they want to offer it on the marketplace they are welcome to do so. |

I may try to broker a deal to where the seller gets a little more than he would than selling to a dealer and perhaps I can make a small commisssion. |

I would say more than "a little". Heck, I got 100 ounce bar fever myself. |

Yeah, I'd love to buy the 100 oz bar myself, but unfortunately Obamanomics doesn't allow it at this time. |

If you are using Obamanomics you can afford as many as you want. Buy them all on credit you don't have to pay for it anyway! (sorry couldn't resist) |

here is another site with buy prices.
You must be logged in to see this link.
looks like 1.7% below spot on their buy price. not nec. the exact same bar.
note that the percentages they show are their sell price premium over spot for different types. |
Buying: Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00 copper cents at 1.3X wheat pennies at 3X
