I took $300-400 in dimes and pennies into the bank today. I was going to use them for paying my morgage.

The teller brought out trays to put them into. As I was doing it, I noticed that a lot of the rolls were short or a lot were long. I was not sure. I pulled one of the rolls and was going to count it, but decided to just take the whole lot back home and check it out.

I hauled the whole lot back out to the car and then had to go back in to claim my halves which the mgr was guarding on the central island for me.

I got home and sure enough, a good number of the penny rolls were short 45 each. I don't know how that happened, but I am sure thankful that I caught it.

Sounds like the results of late night rolling. Glad you caught it.

You can verify your count and also make sure you didn't miss any coppers by putting them on a digital scale. I proper roll of zinc should weigh about 126 grams.

A little clarity. The rolls were short with only 45.

Also, I intend to weigh them as hoard said. There is no way I am opening them and counting them.

yes, I was real glad that I caught it, not the tellers.

That definitely would have been embarrassing with the rolls being short by so much.

Maybe it would help if you made up some type of jig that would measure the rolls?
