That is sick. What a bunch of BS. Thank heavens I live in the (only semi-socialist police state) of AZ. Makes me want to move to Russia or China so my family can experience freedom. Watch the Scrap yards pop up along the Ca, Nevada and Idaho Borders.
If they want to be such a bunch of bureaucratic knobs, why not just ask for Drivers license and a fingerprint at the yard LIKE WHEN YOU CASH A CHECK! What a bunch of Nazis. |

| We have terrorist trying to bring down airplanes, and the government is going to start trying to track scrap metal? I have a feeling someone like Waste Management has noticed they can make some money if they make it difficult to do it on the side. I seldom do much as it is because the yard I use requires your tag number, ID, and fingerprint to sell anything but cans. |
Are you throwing that out? |

Scrap metal is funding the TERRORISTS.
Did that sound like a scare tactic or what? |

The article did not say scrap metal is funding the terroriests......
so it is just a piece of paper printed from the computer? but what a pain in the...
Hey, they already required photos of person, id, etc, etc. That sounded like it was already plenty. If there is still an issue then it is with the scrap yard, not with people and requiring 'origin' of everything on a print out certificate. |

They should just handle these transactions like pawn shop transactions. If they suspect its stolen, don't buy it. If someone is bringing in $400 worth of wire every day for a couple months, maybe they should call an investigator and have that checked out. That is obviously a very suspicious case, and no one asked one question about it I bet. The banks must report suspicious transactions, why not put some of the onus on the receiver in these types of transactions. This is not rocket science.
I don't have problem with the 3 day waiting period before payment.
If we gotta shut down all buy/sell transactions because the stuff may be stolen, we may as well shut down every pawn shop, thrift store, or second hand store in the country. Maybe just make a law that if the product is not in its original package with the original receipt from the store purchased at, you cannot buy/sell/trade it. |
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want. |

Here is a copy of the log. How could you fill this out if you are picking up scrap from many places? Also are they going to go back and question the people who put out the stuff to see if it was them who put it out?

| in delaware, Pawn shops and scrap metal processors that sell metal now have to wait 18 days after purchasing the metal to sell it to a new customer. This gives police the opportunity to investigate when a potential victim claims property was stolen. |

How on earth do you prove ownership of scrap metal? It's like proving I didn't just light a fart. |
Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead? |
