Looks like a 5$ fixed charge for a reload, better deal then the 8.9 cents as long as you do over 50$ worth. Does anybody know if you can get pennies from the bank with a debt card?

Still seems like too high a fee. |

$9.95 to buy a prepaid card plus $4.95 to reload (with whatever coins your dumping). So you pay them to take your money, they get to use your money interest free until you spend it or you loose the card, then you pay them to refill the card? Nice. Might be ok for someone with bad credit - but I bet you could get a no fee prepaid card very easily from friendly bank. My credit cards are either no fee to get or keep or a fee with a nice reward program that more then pays the fee. |

Every 5000 pts ($5,000 some places you get double pts) you get you can get $25 cash back I know it is only half a % but it adds up and the first year you have it you get double pts +12000 bonus pts (1000 pts each month) |

Why not just reroll the coins and return them to a bank or C/U??? That way, you have no fees, just a bit of your time. Most banks or C/Us will give you free wrappers, when they have them.

| I use Coinstar, but I use free counting. I would not pay the fee for that preloaded card. |
Just my two cents! |

By free counting you mean you get a gift card? I dont think the green dot is a bad idea. After you have the card if you sort 1000$ in pennies the 5$ refund charge only ammounts to a .5% charge! |

| seems like even at $75 you are paying like 7.5% if it costs that $5 fee. At $50 of change it would actually be 10% to add it to your card. That isn't better than 8.9%. |

| I would guess depending on how much you dump, how fast the machine is and how much it holds. If you were to go in with $5000+ in dumps it would be easier to deal with the machine then watch the poor 105 lb young girl try to lift the coffee cans full of cents ($35fv) into the bank counting machine (spilling a few on floor) I am sure there are a few of us that could come up with $5000 fv in cent dumps, if you add in dimes, quarters, halves ect it would add up to over 10-20k FV very easy. Also how much could you withdraw free from their atm's each day if limited to $200 would not be worth it. |

I once dumped about $900 in pennies through the "free" Coinstar at my CU (The only place of all my banks that actually has any machine) Believe me.. it is way too much like work if you are going to do significant volumes. Standing in front of that machine for hours is not a good plan.. even if the machine is "free." |

Hoard,
We all can't be as obsessed and insane, I mean fortunate, blessed, privileged to have such an arsenal of coin counting/rolling paraphernalia in our garages. Some of us are just relegated to The Coinstar. |
Just my two cents! |

Amex has a card that's 5% cash rebate on all groceries, pharmacy and Gasoline and 1% on everything else. If you think about how much most of us spend on those three, that's a sizeable chunk every year. The biggest problem is that not everybody takes AMEX. |

twocents, there's some truth to what you say, but I'd cold-call banks and find out who's got a free counter. Someone around you must. |

| I do use a free counter at a bank. I just can't abuse it as I don't want to get cut-off. The Coinstar turns away no-one. |

How many hours do you stand in front of your machines in the PPC?
I know I know, they are fast, and the banks is slow.
I spend about an hour or more dumping pennies every time I go to the CU. It is just part of the hobby. |

Another good way is to half hunt at all the banks you see. This gets in inside, and while you are there, look for a machine in the lobby. I found that 3 Fifth Third Bank branches near me have cummins jet sort machines. |
