If it isn't listed, but it is really doubled, it is probably machine doubling. Is only the date doubled? or many features of the text and portrait?
Machine doubles are not as officially collected as hub doubling. True numismatists don't consider them mint errors. (correct me if I don't have that quite right.. any true numismatists reading). |

What....2 for not sorting them out, but over 50 saying it is worth it: Wow, I would have thought that one or three more would have said it isn't worth sorting out the wheats....
Just goes to show how popular and cool they are too find!!!! |

| Im acutally trying to devise a conveyor belt that allows me to see one side of the coin passing then ramps it to another chute and another conveyor and yet another chute that flips the coin and sets it on lane two of the conveyor. that way I can see both sides of the coin without flipping it or looking at the date. I plan to see many coins and I believe that peoples collections are in circulation these days and many valuable coins are being spent. I found an AU 1906 indian last month. No marks altho it was brown in color. |

| To answer your question wolvesdad, the 1909S VDB had some sort of soft metal on the back. I thought it might hurt the price. So when he offered $500 for it I jumped. I sure wish I would have waited and showed the coin on the forum. Now I will look for another one and be more prudent when I sell. |

I've got a new strategy now with the hand fed ryedale. I can pick out most wheats from the copper pile but those pesky older ones seem to be slipping by in the zinc pile. I only know i missed them because at my dump bank they switched to a new coin counter in the lobby and it rejects the older wheats :) My daughter helps me on occasion, and she says, "daddy these old brown ones keep coming back".... A 1937, 1941-s, and a 1941-p hummmm.
