Perhaps once we get a clear "time frame leader," we can narrow it down a little more.

I started hoarding a year and a half ago. If I wouldn't have sold any today I would have over a ton.

I've been saving all wheat cents and 1968-1974-S memorial cents since the 1970's.

I started to save the pre-1982 memorial cents about five years ago, but got more serious about it in the last year or two.

I started saving the coppers in 1983 only out of my change. I started sorting a couple years ago.

01/26/2008 is when I became a member here...so shortly after that point I knew I had to get serious and order a Reydale. It is amazing all the different things you find while sorting.

I don't really think of it as luck per say but the law of averages. The ultimate for me will be when I find either a 1909 S VDB, 1922 plain or a 1955 double die. I know it eventually it will happen, it is only a matter of time. I love the thrill of the hunt!

Does anyone know... When was the first time copper cents reached parity, or metal being worth 100% of their face value, and when was the first time they reached 200%? I would think those would be "triggers" for more people to join the cause.

Just started last week. I hope to be hoarding for years to come.

A long time ago now; when I heard the composition was posssibly changing to zinc in 1979-1980, that's when I started to put them away. Actually, the government toyed with the idea of an aluminum penny in 1973-1974.
