TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO cent. Not the best pictures, but this is certainly a pretty design.

TURKEY again. Bluegill put some nice ones up, back on page 7.
The first is an early 19th century coin, while the others are late 20th century. There is a 5 kurus and 10 kurus. Above you will see only one 10 kurus while below there are two; this is because they have the same obverse but one has the national reverse while the other has the FAO reverse.

UGANDA 5 and 10 cents. Obverse and reverse are strikingly... similar.

URUGUAY 10 pesos, nickel-brass. This is a one-year type, and shows the ceibo, the national flower.

ALGERIA 20 centimes, aluminum-bronze. This is another one-year type. There were two other 20 centime coins, both one-year types: 1972 (brass) and 1975 (alubrz).
Thanks to ALONEIBREAK for identifying this one. |

And guess what? There are three stalks of WHEAT near the center of that one, below that thing that kinda looks like a hand. Another one for the "world wide wheat collection." |

Thanks, Eric. Let's see... what's next... how about one that I have had scanned for months now... WEST AFRICAN STATES 5 francs, aluminum-nickel-bronze. I believe that is the FIRST coin I've read about with that specific composition listed. This coin started out in 1960 as aluminum-bronze, and had the nickel added in 1965. Interesting, at least in my opinion.

CYPRUS. A couple nice bronzes. The half piastre was found recently at a show, and has real nice lustre, which doesn't really show on this pic. It's a niiice coin.

PALESTINE 1 mil.
Just thinking out loud here... I have a few more countries, and some bronze/copper tokens and stuff... I'd really like to represent at least 100 countries in this thread. Is that doable? I am going to need your help! Who's still out there, and what do you think? If you're reading this, check out the first post in the thread. There is a listing there with the countries represented. Can you add one or two? |

South Africa withdrew from the Commonwealth and was no longer a Dominion in 1961. That year they went from British Pounds & Pennies to Rands & Cents.
This coin was minted from 1965 thru 1967 and 1969. It is 4 grams.

This thread is not dead yet! We have been very busy with our new home... we closed May 14th, and in the last week and a half, we have been ripping out carpets, laying laminate floors, painting baseboards and spot-painting walls, installing GFCI outlets, installing a new water heater, and so on... and it won't be until some time next month that I have much time to get on RealCent... but still, I have more coins to show you! Here's one...
YUGOSLAVIA 10 para.

...aaaand I think that's wheat. Another one for the "world wide wheat initiative" hahaha! The other day I was at a coin shop, digging through their cheapo stuff, and saw several world coins with wheat on them. I started setting them aside, and realized, I already collect enough stuff. But I think it will be fun someday to gather all the wheat coins I have and scan them all in one image... WORLD WHEAT. |
