obviously, the more recongnizable brands of silver rounds command the greatest premium when you go to sell them. I would like to get your thoughts on Northwest Territorial Mint and where it fits. Is this a name brand, generic, or somewhere in the middle?
As a starting point for discussion, I'll offer the following:
Top tier name brands would be Englehard and JM.
Middle tier would be Amark, Ohio Precious Metals.
Everything else is generic.
i'm posing the question because i have been offered some NWT rounds to purchase and I would like others views where they fall relative to other brands.

I would say middle tier. I like them only if they're still in the original plastic. |

I bought several hundred ounces of NWTM 1 oz bars when silver was below $9/oz. I had no problem selling them for $20 each on E-Bay. I almost doubled my money selling those bars. |

They are less than Engelhard but more than OPM. I like them very much but they are just hard to find in shops and I won't wait a 6months to a year to take delivery of my order if I order straight from them!
I think you could get 50-75 over spot or so right now. |

I ordered the Pan American 1 oz bars. They are the same price as their NWTM bars.
It took about 8 weeks to receive my order from NWTM. Silver was about $9/ oz when I ordered and took 3 days to get my order in over the phone. They were overwhelmed with orders, so I think the 8 weeks was a reasonable time. If you are buying for the long haul, then this shouldn't be a problem. |

When I have sold silver in the past I never got one cent more for one round over another. I have sold to various dealers and all have been the same. On the other hand I have never paid more for one over the other. Given a choice, I will cherry pick though a dealer's stack while buying just incase I were to ever sell to a silver bar or round collector. But since I never have, I guess other than the fact some rounds or pritty silver bars are nice to look at, I have been wasting my time. |

ardent, i hear you. i look for value. but part of value is liquidity. obviously you can sell an ASE more easily than a santa claus round. i have the opportunity to buy some NWT mint rounds and am trying to calibrate what a good price is.
p.s. i thought i was the only one they took 6 months to ship for. you guys make me feel a lot better. |

What about APMEX rounds? A trustworthy company and pretty close to spot... right? |

Are you asking about their value or their quality?
Value wise they are pretty much like generic silver. |

I was just looking up NWT Mint. I think they have slightly high minimum order amounts, but the premiums and free shipping and insurance on silver orders are good. I'll keep their house brand bars in mind if silver ever gets down in price again. |
