I'm starting to think the US Mint does not want any business. Not only do I hate the reverse design but the price is outrageous. $1,792.00

It's hard to make any profit buying from the US Mint unless you have a very very long timeframe, or you are lucky buying some coin that turns out to be in demand and scarce. Since the design of this coin may be unpopular, they might be cheaper in the secondary market soon.
One of the best deals I got from the US Mint was buying some GOLD proof Eagles many years ago for $550 each.  Perhaps, if you buy these Platinum eagles today, years from now you may be wondering why you didn't buy more of them at current prices. |

The reverse is kinda silly/stupid, but I'm curious why you "hate" it.
I've seen worse designs and motive from the mint, so the coin doesn't surprise me in the least. |

I was going to reply, "I guess I really don't hate it..." but actually I really do hate it after looking at the designs of the previous years: You must be logged in to see this link.
The 2009 design kind of has a socialistic theme imo .

| Also, they got rid of the eagle on the reverse. I think all the previous designs had an eagle. |
