Had a call from a lady the other day who said she had over a thousand pennies from the 30's and 40's and wondering on a value. Had to say I really don't know.
Anybody out there have an idea of a fair price for King George V and VI pennies? I know it all depends on conditions, but average circulated pennies, lets say.
Offer 2 cents each just for copper worth. I was looking at my copy of the 2008 North American Coins and Prices book. The 1930's and 1940's Canadian cents go for roughly 1/3 of the US counterpart dates on average. I was looking at the VG-8 condition prices. Offering 3 cents apiece would be more than fair IMHO. I average roughly 1% yield for the kings out of the bulk of Canadian cents I find. If the appear at that rate here in the US, perhaps you could find quite a bit more in your rolls up in Canada?
