I have been throwing the "bright and shiny-ish" coins to the side as I sort and recently went through and year sorted most of them. These are pretty much all 59-82 BU/AU type coins. Also perhaps forty dollars face in common brown wheats for those years.
The ones that REALLY "pop" I take out for choice gems for saving long term. I ain't too interested in letting them go.
But for the other ones what would be the best way to maximize my gain when I liquidate them? Sets? Sets in folders? Sets in 2x2s in 3 ring binder albums? Sets in rolls?
Rolls? Solid Date mixed mint marks? Solid date Solid MM? Sets with the leftovers? I currently have them sorted by year only.
I am just curious as to what you think would garner the best return on my investment and why.

Myself I am OCD heavy so as I am sorting I have decades tubes out, when I fill 3 tubes for a decade they go into the Year and MM tube, when full it goes into a paper roll. Even in LMC's if you are speculating on nice BU/AU rolls some dates are awful tough to find very good examples...
I never expect to realize great returns, but they cost me face and my grandkids can appreciate or what ever with them.
Bright and shiny, but not quite good enough to go into a roll I do separate, I have approximately 50lbs of them, I am right now testing Ebay with a sale of "premium red copper bullion". I haven't had any bites yet, but I do have 2 watchers and we will see. |

Thanks all but I was considering liquidating by the end of the year. Bu/AU, Error Coins, Counter Stamped, All the basicly cool stuff I have found during the year.
Someone asked once or theorized that you could get a Ryedale and in one year pay for it just with good coins you found. I got curious as to what my aggregate for a year could do? Thats why I was asking about the best return. I am hoping for an Auction before the end of the month. |

| When I look to buy I look for sets. I have found buying coins in sets give you more coins for less money than if you buy them individually. |
Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended. |

I sort to tubes for all the shiny unblemished pennies. First I set aside whole jars of brights for further sorting later. I plan to move the cream to a set of four or more albums.
I have individual tubes for all dates and mintmarks from about 1915 on. Before that I don't have full tubes. The bright pennies don't start until the 1950's with a few exceptions. Then I may have multiple tubes, uncirculated or AU, for each year and mintmark.
So the amswer is both/all ways!
