Ok so i need to ship out 20 lbs of copper cents but cant remember how many are to a pound. I want to say its like 150 or something. Thanks for your help

its 146 if they are uncirculated. 148 would probably be close enough.

The official number is 146.85 per lb for uncirculated pennies, but with circulated pennies you loose some copper from wear and tear. I use 150 as a general rule of thumb for average circulated, but with really worn pennies, it might be closer to 160 per lb.

Why not just weight out 20 lbs on a scale and not worry about face value?

A while back I actually counted out ten 1 pound samples, 8 times I got 148 pennies, the other 2 were 149 pennies. 150 a pound is a nice safe (and easy) number to use.

To get a pound of pure copper, would you need about 154 or so? For the few I have sold, I just went 3 rolls per pound. Of course, selling them in larger amounts, or when selling them unrolled, that nice round number doesn't help!

I did not have a scale but went and bought one. I like it a lot better than counting them I counted one set out and was like I aint doing that
