Nice coins. I just use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and set the resolution up to something like 2400 DPI instead of 200 or whatever the default setting is. Then crop them down... usually works.
another couple tips... - take the coins out of the 2x2 and lay them directly on the scanner. - try using different colored construction paper for backgrounds. sometimes the change in color makes the image clearer or just plain better.
