I stopped into an out of town bank and asked for boxes of halves or dimes. The teller was very nice and said at this time they could not spare boxes and I was only able to get $50 in dimes. I also asked if they had any large dollar coins. The lady said yesterday an old man came in with a "bucket" of old silver dollars. I asked if they still had them, trying not to seem to greedy. She said no they did not. They do not take in odd sized coin(ones that do not fit into the coin counter) and refered him to a coin dealer. She said the man also had 3 more "buckets" at home he wanted to get rid of.

These silver dollars may have been clad Ikes or the real deal, but I can't believe the possibility of getting hundreds of Silver dollars at face value was so close. I just wish I was the one standing in line behind him that day!!

Did you give the teller your number and tell her that if he comes back in to give him your number taht you are a collector nd will def. give him more then the dealer and if it works out you will give her... Gift card, trip to ???,etc. depending on what you get/make.

Buying CU cents!!!! Paying 1.2 unlimited amounts wanted. Can pick up if near Ohio area.

Wow. I love those old dollars, made when a dollar was actually a dollar.

I hear you on not acting greedy. I usually act more as if I'm mildly eccentric collector. More interested in the odd coin rather than trying to hoard REAL money.

Also Morgans and Peace dollars were in general circ. up until the mid 1960s with the reast of the 90%.

Yes I did leave my name and cell number if anything like this should come in again. But I wonder if they really would call a non member from out of town. The only call backs I ever get are from the 2 banks in my hometown that I do alot of business with.
