I guess it's all in the final details. I think this bill will be hailed as a wonderful piece of legislation by those who are on the winning side of it. However, I don't think anyone, either Progressive or Conservative, will find that this bill really fixes our broken health care system or ameliorates the exponetial rise in health care costs for Americans.

The bill is basically a tax hike for the next 5 years, after which will be the imminent destruction of the insurance industry as the forced acceptance of pre-existing conditions motivates people to wait until they are sick to sign up for insurance. The result - bankrupted insurance companies, unable to pay benefits to the sick, will have to send premiums skyrocketing, which means fewer people able to buy insurance, and ultimately government coming to the "rescue" in the form of nationalized (ie, rationed) healthcare.

The sell-out of our government to the rich elites sucks. Further, I wouldn't feel sorry if the greedy insurance industry, who have been creatively finding ways not to pay ordinary folks only to increase their profits, disappeared into bankrupt entities.

Yes, it's about time people were left to fend for themselves without any insurance at all.
Perhaps they'd learn to think twice about their decisions.
When the bankruptcy of the U.S. becomes apparent and after the demise of the insurance companies,
there won't be any affordable doctors or medical supplies left anyway. Nothing left to do but get used to it and
prepare for a sudden drop in life expectancy in the U.S.
And good riddance to all the rich movie and TV types and politicians who will just move to places
where they can continue to live the way they're used to now.
We win!

The idea of insurance is not the problem. (We shouldn't have the right to buy--or sell--insurance if we like?) Our system has just gotten socialized and messed up even before this.

Win? I'm not so sure....
