| The coin community forum has some pretty good experts on these types of fakes, might want to post a pictures over there of it. I am not saying that highroller will not know, just another place to see what others think. Guys on there see a lot of fakes on ebay, ect. |

highroller4321 - Thanks for your positive evaluation of this controversial coin. I'm not sure what to do with it now. Would getting it graded be worthwhile in terms of cost/benefit?
Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead karmacly speaking. After all one could get into negative loops like - do they certify coins as fakes also? I think I may gloat about the penny with my older brother - a noncollecting adult but former big coin collecting kid.

AG,
That is not really true. Every coin wears differntly depending on what happends to it. If this coin was dropped several times or had things set on it or whatever there is no reason why the wheat lines would wear off. The front of the coin is a lot heavier worn than the back. Also you cant see it in the picture but the coin has just a sligh "buckle" or "curve" it in so my guess it that something heavy was set on it or got hit with it. |

DD,
As i told you via PM I would not reccomend getting the coin graded. Its such a low grade G4-G6 that is wouldnt be worth the $20 or so to get it certified/graded. I belive its a $75ISH coin. |

The coin being buckled would have an effect on the price. The coin is 100 years old and I am sure it could tell some stories. With the concave being on the back, that would explain the wheat lines not being as worn and poor old Lincoln having his face ground off.
G-4 to G-6 is a little less than what I thought, but I didn't have it in my hands. |

| OK, this is my professional opinion. I have a 50/50 chance of being right, so... Anyway, I believe that the coin is fake. Without actually seeing the coin, I believe that the mintmark is skewed too much and the numbers are just off. I've seen alot of wheats, since I'm a collector and I must say that I've never seen a mintmark that is "squished" like that. This doesn't guarantee that it is fake, but there's a good chance. JMHO. |

Ditto what Slick said. Why would fake a coin in that low of condition......Good(I would not give it an inch above GOOD, not at all VG in my opinion)
But from seeing the photos, I think it is legit!! |

So much good advice at this forum, worth far more than the coin itself. Everytime I look at the pictures, I see Realcent 90% or FAKE 10% . Good luck with the auction.
