My favorite fraction when it comes to buying gold is 7/5--I'll take all of it plus 40 percent.

Seriously, the only .999 gold I've bought so far is a 5-gram bar that I traded later for 12 oz. of .999 silver. I'm just not that excited about gold.

1/10 because it's easily liquidated without having to sell a complete ounce at a time.

I like it all, but Neckro is correct about the 10th ouncers. Very liquid at all times. Buy what you can easily sell.

Some of the nicest gold coins worldwide are in the 1/4 oz size. Your old English sovereigns, Swiss 20Fs, and others are all in this size of GOLD. That's why I voted for the 1/4 oz. in this poll.

I thought the 1 Oz would be more popular.

Do the 1/4 sized Sovereigns and Swiss 20Fs have any premiums, are you guys voting for old circulated gold? When I was thinking 1/4, I was thinking of the Maple Leafs.

How much does a 1/4 Sovereign cost?

I prefer the 1/2oz. The 1/10th oz has to much of the premium or that would be my vote.

My favorite sized Maple Leaf Gold and American Gold Eagle is the 1/4 oz. too. It's affordable and has lower premiums than the 1/10 oz.

GB Sovereigns weigh 7.9881g, .917 fine GOLD, and contain .2394 oz AGW. Dealers pay spot+$4 and sell at spot+12%

Slightly smaller, the Swiss 20F weighs 6.4516g, .900 fine GOLD, and contains .1867 oz AGW. Dealers pay spot and sell at spot+14%.

Both of these gold coins are widely recognizable worldwide.

I agree with County on the American Gold Eagle 1/4 oz, and his reasons why. Once I get my fill of 90% Silver coins and copper cents then I might summon what's left of my FRN's (and some courage!) and just go get another 1/4 oz. The way my luck goes, gold will plunge shortly afterwards!!!!

I would prefer having all 10th ounce, but the premiums are too high for my taste. I'd prefer 1/4s and 1/2s

I was crying and whining when I bought 4oz of 1/4oz back in 2003 for $390 an ounce, but am now glad that I did. The darned premiums are too high on fractional, it's actually cheaper like Country refers to to buy some .1867 or .2492 from other countries, there's less of a premium. In the future, when the price crashes hard (if the manipulators pull it down), then that'll be the time to grab some 1/10's (though they're so darned small!)

    Hoard now and hold on!
