I'd forgotten that I had one of these until I unpacked another box in my new apartment. Have any of you seen these flashlights? They're pretty cool:

I'm wondering, how hard would it be to have a larger electrical system in your home based upon this sort of setup (although hopefully you wouldn't have to shake the house to turn on lights)?

I have one of these that is also a cooking timer. You just turn the timer back and forth and there is a light on the bottom and a regular analog timer on top.

That kind of thing would work best in SF Bay area. Every week when your neighborhood loses power because of a quake your house lights up!

I've got a bunch of these flashlights. I just put mine out in the sun for a few hours, and presto they are all recharged. I find that it's best to have a few of these because the charge wears out within a couple hours of usage or if left idle for too many days.

I have a solar powered SW/AM/FM radio too.
