I've been trying to be more careful in looking for error pennies since I found that brockage error several weeks ago (turns out it was worth about $12)
Yesterday, I was sorting pennies and noticed that one of them had a pretty uneven rim. On the obverse side, the left side of the coin had a thicker rim than usual and the right side had no rim.
I noticed most pennies have an even rim all the way around. However, I noticed some have variations in being even (not as bad as the one I found yesterday)
Is that a pretty common error? Is it even considered an error?
Thanks

I find quite a few of those. I have no idea if they are worth anything. I've been throwing the zinc ones back to go to the bank. I would be interested to know if they are worth anything too. |

I have been pulling these errors for a while, I have around two rolls or so all varying in date, condition and degree. These are a very common find (in my area), also keep an eye out for rimless pennies. As for price in my area, the coin dealer told me they would be worth something to him but he had to have enough to put together some kind of package 3-4$ for two rolls of good condition. I was thinking about putting a little lot of what I got together and trying them on e-bay, so I will keep you posted if anything comes of it. I hope this helps, I saw dollar signs the first time I found one but the entire roll was coins with heavy rims, someone must have dumped grampa's collection. Since then been keeping a close eye out and found a roll worth or more, not all copper. |

I usally find 1 or 2 in good or better condition and around 10-12 in fair to poor condition, these of which if copper just go into the hord unless a date i don't have yet. The poor zincs back to the bank. I will try and post some pics of them this evening. Keep an eye out there in there I promise, some less prominate than others but still off center. |

Maybe I'll start keeping these again. Found quite a few, and hey, who know, might be worth more than face. :) |

Rimless pennies too? Just saw that. See, it helps to reread. Just did some sorting. I would have to say, at least in my area, that these are very common. Just went through 6 rolls and pulled at least 20 in varying degree of off center. All minor, but enough to notice the rim difference. Also been finding CiCi's pennies. lol |

If the three of us start looking we might acumulate a little hoard and market them on e-bay then split the take. Could always use a little extra $$. Just a thought. I will post pics this evening of the ones I got for a refrence. oktyabyr maybe you should start a new CiCi's penny thread, sounds like you got a corner on that market. lol |

Lol looks like it. Sounds like a plan. Instead of throwing them back, i keep em now. But it diminish the amount of zincs that go back to get more, so I might have to start cutting back. But for now, I will keep hoarding them. |

I stopped collecting all but the most obvious errors. Most people, unless dealers, can't see the difference and don't understand the value. When you start branching out into numismatics and errors, there's nothing like experience and knowledge. |
As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?
