I found my first error penny! Woopee! Haha, it's a Die Break "Cud" according to the Lincoln Cent Resource. Here are some pics

I'm very glad I finally found an error penny May seem like little to the experienced ones but it means alot to me

Excuse my child speak, im still in high school after all

And can anyone give me a rough estimate of it's value? My dad keeps going, "I'LL STOP TAKING YOU TO THE BANK IF YOU DON'T FIND ANYTHING GOOD"

-Thanks,

Mega

That's a very nice CUD, the ones I've found have been much smaller.

As far as Value, the smaller ones I've found I sold for $2 each. Not sure what one like yours would go for, too bad the date was where the die broke.

Nice find for sure. I can't comment on value, but the coin sure seems to have been through a few hands to get to you. Surprising no one ever pulled it and saved it as it looks very unusual.

If it is a 1922, then it easily would be worth a million dollars as it would be the only 1922 cent with the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse instead of the traditional wheat ears.

Just my two cents!

What is "CUD"?

"You're not really gonna throw that out...are you"?

Nice find! Value on one that big- probably $10 to $15, roughly. "Cud" refers to the fact that where the die broke off, the resulting "blob" on the coin looks like a wad of chewing tobacco.

It is somewhere between a 1959 and a 2008. But you can narrow that down by figuring out if it is copper or zinc

Megaman...congrats on the find the penny with the Cud.

I'm sorry your dad feels that way about taking you to the bank for coins. He should appreciate and be thankful that you have such an interesting, educational and decent hobby for you to spend your time on rather than some of the things this younger generation squanders away their time doing.

And what else would the younger generation be doing

Nice find MegaMan. I think you ought to invest your time playing video games and getting into trouble. Maybe your dad will like your coin hobby then. Is your name MegaMan because you do play video games?

Doesn't your dad know you find something "good" in almost every batch. All copper cents are "good."

Megaman Pwns they should totally make a basketballman XD and i don't exactly play video games that much anymore, coin sorting is much more rewarding and basketball is much more fun sooo,

coins + bball > video games

And yes all copper cents are good, to him a one cent profit on each isn't "worthwhile," until i told him it used to be three cents each and it's basically 100% profit

Nice find. I hope you share with your father all the finds made by people here. There have been several finds around here going into the hundreds. I hope you're looking for the DDOs and close and wide AMs.

I always wondered what caused this. I have a shiny 1974-D that has a chunk on the lower front and a shiny 1973-D that has a chunk between two posts on the lincoln memorial on the back. I thought they were strange so I threw them in my tube of odd finds.

I'll take a 1 cent (100%) profit every time.. over, and over and over again. All that potential gain, with no downside risk.. how can you beat that?

I have two with a cud in the same spot, but different shape. They're both "zinkers," I think.

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!
