At Radio Shack I just bought myself a am-fm short wave radio that I really like........it is the Grundig S350DL........short wave is pretty good and it has a big speaker.

It work with ac and 12 volt car power and also with three AA or three D.

Alternate sources of information, outside of the government-media complex.

Some of the best sources of financial news I'm able to find lately comes from news websites outside the US. The same holds true for radio.

I got a solar powered/wind-up radio that doesn't need any batteries whatsoever. It has a shortwave band too. It's small, but very efficient, perfect for the SHTF scenario. Check it out.

This is the radio I purchased:

Country? I have two wind up with solar and a larger am-sw wind up.......plus a few more.

Even have two tube radios, one from 1938 and one from 1940 that was made in the month and day that I was born in.........most of old radios have inside a paper that says when they were made, it was a matter of pride and not mass production.

I got a Grundig hand-cranked shortwave radio at a pawn shop. It was only $10 and it seems to pull in quite a bit.
