I have been a member of this form only for a short while, when compared to some. However have been buying coins for some time along with sorting for myself. Usually every post some one talks about how they are getting coins for spot or below spot at other places. I was wondering since I rarely get below spot, besides for the ones I sort, if other members would like to divulge there secret. I have been watching ebay for years and trying to get spot is becoming less and less often when you figure shipping. There are also several great deals on here however you have to be very quick. If any one cares to divulge there secrets or has a seller they like to watch for on ebay that often has good deals or wouldn't mind playing middle man and making a small profit when they come across deals then please post your finds.
I sometime find people at the flea market who are selling junk coins for spot price and wouldn't mind picking some up for other people when avalible. (these are usually low grade quarters and franklins)
Lets not start any fights either if you have a dealer and dont want to compete with other buyers from this forum then please keep it to yourself or play a middle man.

The best consistent "closest to spot" is probably Apmex.com
Also if you are will to buy "non-pure" you can easily get under spot all the time via War Nickels, 40% Halves, and sometimes a few other types.
Also when silver first went over $16/ounce there were a number of under spot deals for .99 silver but I haven't seen one in the last week or so. |

except from sorting I don't get anything under spot. I suppose it's finding the right dealer at the right time. Some people are running ads on Craigs list. A couple of years ago I was picking up all more silver than I wanted at 10% under on ebay (including shipping) but I started holding out for 15% to slow my purchases. Been a long time since that. |

Most of these under spot deals are the exception, and not the norm. Now that silver has went up, there are alot of places that are selling under spot and dont realize it. Like yesterday, I got 7 90% Bens for 10.5X at a local pawn shop. I'd have got more, but that was all he had.
I dont think there is any kind of secret to give away other than staying sharp, being a firm negotiator, and keeping your eyes open everywhere you go. Good luck. |
