I have about 20 old Commodore 64's (don't ask...) and was wondering if it's worth dragging them to the scarp yard. Ideas?

Look inside them for gold, or gold plating.

There are other recycle-your-own-gold sites I gather, or sell the gold scrap on ebay.

I should have chosen "Cut-n-Paste" as a forum name, since that is what I do, mostly.

If they still work, sell them on ebay.
Complete in the box units are getting $50 - $60 each.

I don't think the scrap yard will offer you anything for them.

Time to change your Avatar to "Commodore Canadian Nickle"...or "Commodore Nickle"....has kind of a powerful tone to it...

I would say there is gold in them, Im trying to learn how to extract the metals off of them. From what I under stand you make your acid and put them in there over night, I have to get a book by cm hoke to understand everything about how to do it.
The information is hard to come by.

The C.M. Hoke book, "Refining Precious Metals Wastes", although the best refining book ever written, is primarily about karat gold scrap. There is little or no information on gold in electronics.

Everything you need to know is free on this forum. I think you'll have to register (easy and fast) to read the posts. There are about 800 members and 9000 articles plus quite a few free videos.
