I saw a quote of about $1.14/lb. I don't scrap aluminum but may pick up some cans on my bike rides to give a buddy if it is worth him to take to the recycler. What is a pound of aluminum in cans, about 30 or so?

$1.14!!!!

That's a huge number!

Where did you see that?

I just sold 4200 pounds of mixed cast & old sheet and was happy to get 50 cents a pound. I'd love to see a dollar a pound around here, I have 6 more tons of the stuff stock piled.

That sounds like a brass price, not aluminum.

My local recycler is doing 45 cents; at the height of aluminum prices I was getting 80 cents a pound.

Cans $.40
Ext $.48

$1.14 must be one of the 10 states with a redemption value. Can't be CA since the minimum here is $1.57 per pound. So it must be one of the other 9 states or just Jerry pulling our leg. There are approximately 31.4 alumimum cans per pound.

Scrap price of alumimum at the wholesale level is up over 25% from the bottom, but it still has a ways to go.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

our local yard here in south Houston...$0.31 lb for cans a long way off from summer of '08 prices..it seems prices are much better in other parts of the country....I guess I will turn up the spigot on my oil well to offset the difference. ;-)

I saw the Midwest ingot price. I guess that is super pure Al ?

I'll stick to copper. Easier to store copper in pennies. My wife would not understand bags of crushed cans laying about.

How much is a flat rate box with 69 pounds of ingots going for? Do they have to be the round biscuits or can you make bricks?
