Due to school or work?

I just started school a couple of weeks ago and i have been only able to sort 10 rolls of nickels so far. And when i finish my homework, the banks are closed. If i get coins beforehand i'll just sort and never get them done

Anyone else having trouble sorting?

You can sort nickels at school or work. Just put money into the soda machine in a denomination combination to guarantee a nickel in change. That's what I do.

Just my two cents!

Well the vending machines at my school work this way, put in a dollar and hit the return money button and everything comes out in quarters and one machine only gives change out in nickels and dimes. But, i don't want to seem like an idiot while doing it. Girls might think I'm a creep haha.

Ya - better to keep your street cred. Just schedule a weekly bank trip and then do your sorting while watching TV.

Yeah, work keeps interfering with my sorting also. It takes many hours per day.. even more than when I went to school. It also is during the prime time of the day when most of the banks are open. Imagine how many coins I could sort if I didn't have to spend all those hours at work. I sort a lot less when it gets really busy at work like it has lately, yet I always manage to get a little sorting in. But work and school come first. You just prebuy your coins while the banks are open or on Saturdays and somehow resist the temptation to sort them immediately. You have to be disiplined. Make the sorting a reward to yourself for getting all your homework, regular work, or chores done. Nothing wrong with "delayed gratification." Many folks are unfamiliar with the concept.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Sorting time is not the problem so much. That can be done before work, during the evening, etc. like a jigsaw puzzle. The bottleneck is getting to the bank to make a coin pick-up or coin return. This is why having at least one day off from work during the week helps out.

When you're retired, there is always something that fills the time up; you end up as busy as the time spent at work or school. While you might have the time to sort all you want; you will find that the time, effort, and gas spent dumping all those coins back to the banks is the most limiting factor.

I've been limited on my sorting, I've recently moved to another state and need to find new dumps and pick ups. I was cut off at a couple locations in Wichita when I was getting close to $500 or more in cents a week. So, I try to limit the number of coins I get from each location. I'm ready to get back into the swing of things here and run my sorter!

That pesky day job does get in the way of my sorting at the capacity I would prefer. But, I need that pesky day job....

Most of us here had to do homework at some point. The only saving grace is that when we were in school, there wasn't nearly as much history to learn.

It's all a matter of time management. This semester I have been knocking out homework a few days ahead of time, which reduces a lot of the stress of last minute cramming. The only major snag so far was writing an 8 page technical report regarding comparative tensile tests on aluminum and cast iron specimens the Sunday night before it was due

In all seriousness, you can get a lot done if you really want to. I am a full time engineering student, have a leadership job in tech support, and run The Copper Cave, and I still manage to keep up with most topics on Realcent . Sure, I don't sleep as much as I would like to, but I'm never bored!

Not to much HW so far, but it's still early.

I have a strange feeling that banks close at inconvenient times just so people lose money.

I've been doing alright so far. My Pre-Calc homework is a credit grade, so I seem to strangely miss a lot on those assignments. The only real problem I am having so far is AP US History. No homework in that class. It's notes, notes, notes, test. I still have had plenty of time to do all the sorting my little heart desires.

I am a small-time hand sorter, so i buy a box of pennies about once or twice a month. I sort pennies during my lunch hour. It usually takes about 4 lunch hours to sort a box.

HCBTT and Deal...thanks, I needed to read both of your posts. Laughter is the best medicine, so blame the posts on me. You both knew I needed a good laugh.

Megaman...it is very freshing to continually read the posts on here by the younger generation knowing that they, you included, are getting hands on experience in the area of economics at such a young age. Back in my day when there was less history to learn , economics was normally not taught until the college level.

However, my English teacher made certain to introduce us to the various grammatical aspects of the English language whether we enjoyed it or not. We would certainly have caught her wrath had we dared stay awake too late at night causing us to be too tired to take her class seriously enough; let alone fall asleep during English class, even though we might find English too boring and tiring at two in the afternoon to be able to concentrate sufficiently to learn what we would need to know to take us successfully into the future. Like it or not, we learned our lessons well.

So continued success to you in your classes this year and the future. When you are finally in your advanced years, as I now am, you will look back fondly on this time of your life and think homework was such a cinch compared to what you must accomplish day in and day out in your chosen profession.

Enjoy.

Haven't had a day off in about 3 weeks. Working 16+ hour days. Haven't been sorting very much at all. Wish I got paid overtime.

Wow am I correct we have a high school sorting because copperpennies mentioned his AP chemistry class. For those who don't know an AP class is a class then in high school which at the end of the year one takes an exam to get college credit.

I hear you Tourney.. I did about a 3 or 4 week stretch of 17's. I don't get paid overtime either.

Back when we used to wear togas to school.. you didn't dare fall asleep. The teacher could throw things at you like erasers.. and hit you in the head. Another favorite was to pick your desk up and drop it. Alas, such mirthful frivolities are no longer permitted in schools for some reason.

And that's a great thing, or I'd have a good amount of black eyes and lumps on my head.
