I took out ten dollars in pennies yesterday. They are wrapped in the white wrappers with the red stripes on the ends and red lettering in the middle
50c PENNIES N.F. STRING & SON INC. HARRISBURG, PA, USA
Every roll has a brilliant 2009 front or Lincoln infront of a capital building on the back.
Are these all most likely mint condition pennies? Should I keep them sealed? Should I hang on to them or take advantage of the hype right now on e-bay?
Yes, those are mint coins. I personally would sell them on ebay while there is hype. However, the price has fallen quite a bit on them.
Thanks for the reply.
I didn't unseal them. Can I assume the 48 pennies between the 2 2009s on the ends are unc. too. Should I leave them wrapped or should I open them and check?
It's a pretty safe bet the whole roll is business strikes LP series 3 in as close to Mint State as they can be. I leave mine sealed when I'm able to get them. Sell if you want a quick return for what ever you can get. I plan to give mine to my children and grand children unless the price goes thru the roof during my lifetime.
Yes, new rolls of uncirculated pennies. These LP-3's have been dogs compared to the 1's & 2's. They have been fetching $.03 per penny when sold in 10 roll lots for me lately. Probably not worth the effort to list them on e-bay - check out the latest auctions and you'll see.
