Hi everyone,

I would like to annouce the opening of a new copper penny investment company. The company is called The Portland Mint. You must be logged in to see this link.
Another forum member, who wishes to remain annoyomous, and I have founded this company and finally have gotten it up and running.

This company is sort of like an ETF, except we are 100% backed, so we don't sell more tons than we have, and it is very easy to take delivery of the product. We specialize in 1 ton lots, but we also sell 68lb boxes as well.

I am not trying to spam by posting this. I just would like to get the word out and get some constructive feedback.

I have recently lowered the price of the 1 ton lots.

Also if you make an order you can mention Realcent and get 1/2 off of your storage.

Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

Adam

Looks good but do you think you might diversify into other metals or maybe produce copper bars?

No, we have no interest in producing copper bars. If thats what you are looking for there are 2 other members here who specialize in that area.

At this point in time we are not going to diversify into selling other metals. It is a possibility in the future though.

A very cool idea! Good luck to you! According to your website you have 68 tons in inventory! Looks like I need to pump up my hoard a fair bit so that I can compete :)

Cool site. Hope you guys can make a great run at it. Posts are one thing, but since this is your official business webpage, run a spell check on the word "than" and change to "then" as applicable under your section on one ton lot shipping options. Also, I suggest you change, "Due to this the copper penny is worth more than a penny." to "more than one cent." or "more than face value." Cheers.

Just my two cents!

I did not notice the errors until I went back and looked for them. English and spelling are not my strongest subjects.

I agree with twocents about using "more than face"

"than" does need to be changed to "then"

(The boxes than will be shipped priority mail, with confirmation, to a destination of your choice)

Saying a copper penny is worth more than a penny is like saying a red Corvette is worth more than a Corvette. Someone might have been confused by it. No one here, of course. Glad to be able to help.

Just my two cents!

68lb for $170.00 shipped, isn't that quite a bit less than melt? Pretty good deal.

Impurities and the melt ban cause copper pennies to routinely sell below melt value.

Nice. Good luck. It's a lot of work....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Yeah I was confused:

68 pounds * 145 copper pennies per pound ~= 9860 pennies

So roughly $100 in pennies for $170 in FRNs.

It all depends on how you set up the company.

If you sell and store almost any product for another person it becomes a "security". Typically that means that you have to be registered with the ssc and meet all their regulations.

Wow, highroller are you saying that you the copper lots will be registered securities? I looked into that earlier this year as I had a crazy idea regarding taking delivery from the commodities market and it looked like way to much effort and probably too much cost.

If you did register them, can you give us an idea of the steps necessary to do so?

Barry its really complicated to try to explain. I sent you a PM to try to explain it. Thats why you need lawyers and accountants and what not.

Yes, typically it is a pain in the rear to take delivery. Thats because most securities are 100% backed. If there was a run on the item the company would run out. The Portland Mint is 100% backed and we are NOT going to sell more copper than we actually have. therefore delivery from us is as easy as a phone call.

When you say access to all the pennies you want to sort. Would you mind a rough estimate of what you'd be doing a week? I'm jealous, thinking of all the awesome finds you must come across.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.
