when i first started prepping i told my family i was preparing for the standard 3 day emergency. i told my family and neighbors, as well. this conversation would take place after an earthquake. a gret opportunity to naturally bring up prepping. i did not explain that i was awaiting a big calamity, or TEOTWAWKI. i gave a sheeple version of prepping.
one thing that came up was, after the earthquake, how in 1994 we were without utilities for weeks!!! no water, no gas, no electricity! i made the comment that after a while people were stinking for lack of water. a response to that was, after a major disaster, hygiene was the least of ones' worries. the major worry was staying alive.
what this person didn't realize was you get a BAD CASE OF THE ICHIES, and INFECTIONS (esp. females) if you don't clean up.

| that's why i didn't mention a years worth of food or tp!!! what about y'all? when you first started prepping, i'm sure many would share the need to prep with family and friends. anyone have a story or anecdote to share? |

| nickless i meant to say my extended family not living at the house with me. my sister i told her to try and save a month's worth of food. she has since set hers up in the garage. i have bought her a water kit and two 35 gallon water barrels very cheaply through my town's CERT TRAINING program. the kit was $14 and the barrels were each $1.00 that's one dollar each. |
