I have seen them for sale. As a collector of JFKs, I don't see the sense of buying a scuffed up proof. Perhaps if it was a very expensive proof, then a collector may want a filler.
I use them to fill in my book, so that one day I will be able to show off how I found all of the half dollars, even the proofs, and NIFC's and got them all for face value.
I save them, haven't tried to sell them. I don't think they'd carry to much of a premium on ebay. They are more just to hold as rare coin finds in the silver halves searches.

I believe i've even found some s-mints from the 70's and 80's that were silver clad. Does anyone else find these? They flip and sound like silver but weigh around 11.5g
